The shooting of Filiberto Ojeda Rios is not mainstream news. It’s news you have to dig for. Just like Dylcia Pagan. She’s a historical figure you have to search for. She’s known to the people who are interested in the Puerto Rican struggle. Intelligent minds that hunger for history and are numb from yet another version of so-called American history.
Dylcia Pagan served 20 years in federal prison for the crime of seditious conspiracy against the United States Government. She believed in the end of colonialism for her homeland of Puerto Rico. Was she the one that ran into Congress and fired shots? No, that was Lolita Lebron. This is Dylcia Pagan. The one who gave up her son to a Mexican family so that the FBI couldn’t find him while she was in prison. How did she live behind prison walls all those years without knowing about her son? Can I ask her that? What questions should I ask her. Read Dylcia Pagan’s interview now!
As you can see I am truly in full swing!
It feels great to be back!!!
La Diva Latina

It feels great to be back “home”! Back online where I’ve been for the last 5 years! Yeah! 5 years! Talking about being home, in this issue I also reviewed the Broadway musical, In the Heights. Read all about the wonderful MUST, MUST see musical, In the Heights! It’s all about going back home- whether that is back to the old block or back to the DR or PR, Mexico or Columbia! Read the review about In the Heights now!
Well, no one can understand more about being back home than Dylcia Pagan- former Puerto Rican Political Prisoner. For those of you wondering WHO? Well…
It was the late 1960’s, early 70’s. People were more politically aware, and actively rebelling against what they saw as ills of society. People organized into powerful organizations. The Black Panthers, The Young Lords, the Macheteros. The Machey-who? The Macheteros. Synonomous with radical, violent, overthrow of the government. But it’s okay now. It’s not 1967. It’s 2007. Right?
