| Did you know? 50% of all privately-held U.S. businesses are 50% or more women-owned. This means that 10.6 million businesses are at least half owned by a woman or women. About 35% of all Hispanic owned businesses are owned by women. Businesses owned by women of color are growing at 6 times the rate of all U.S. businesses. Hispanic women owned businesses generate about $44.4 billion in sales. (As of 2004) Also as of 2004, women of color owned businesses generated nearly $147 billion in sales. |
Can you believe ... ? One in 11 adult women is an entrepreneur. One in 7 employees in the United States works in a woman-owned business. Women owners are more likely to have started their companies than men owners, rather than have purchased, inherited, or acquired in some other way. Between 1997 & 2004, African-American women-owned businesses grew by nearly 33%. Hispanic women-owned businesses grew by nearly 64%. Asian & Pacific Islanders & Native Americans / Alaska Natives women-owned businesses both grew by nearly 70%. |
