| Shakira wins SIX at Latin Billboard Awards Shakira took home the female Latin pop album of the year for "Fijacion Oral Vol. 1" (Oral Fixation Vol. 1). The album's top song, a sexy duet with Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz called "La Tortura" (The Torture), won four other awards, including hot Latin song of the year. Shakira also won the Spirit of Hope Award, in honor of her work to improve living conditions forColombian children through her charitable organization, Fundacion Piez Descalzos. | Latin Grammy award winning Colombian American singer-songwriter Soraya died of breast cancer in Miami. She was 37 years old. She fought to raise awareness in the Spanish-speaking community for a cure and prevention. In 2004, she won a Latin Grammy for her self-titled album. One of the powerful pieces on the CD is "Casi" (Almost)." "Casi se me acaba la fé, casi se me escapa el amor, casi me queda la innocencia, se me agota toda la fuerza, para luchar un dia mas, casi me rendi, hasta que pense en ti." Que en paz descanse. |
