If you are reading this you are probably my “friend”.
We are all friends here on the internet.  We could be on
the other side of the country, or even another country,
but we are all “cyber-friends”.

What is  friendship really about?  We talk to the authors
of
Sister Chicas, three authors that wrote Sister Chicas
without living in the same state.  One lives in Vermont,
the other in Illinois, and the other in New York.  No, it’s
not the Charlie's Angels!  It’s the
Sister Chicas!  Read
their interview and you’ll soon enough want to be a
Sister Chica too!

In this issue we talk about  the phenomenon of the
“virtual friendship”, as I reveal
how La Diva got started
in the first place.  It  was in part due to my cyber-
amiga
named
FountainWish, all the way in Puerto Rico and
me in Washington, DC.
Read how La Diva got started
with FountainWish and how we finally met face-to-face.

In this issue you also get to meet me “in person”.  I post
pictures of me at the
Viva Diva Contest in Lawrence,
Ma. and a short clip of me on
El Show de Fernandito in
Boston.  I was also at the
Bronx Puerto Rican Parade
marching with the Tainos.  Taino pride, a Taino-in-
training, and recording artist and poet
La Bruja
marches along at the
Bronx Parade!  Read Taino

Like always, there are some interesting facts and
figures.  Did you know that having friends
promotes good health?   So much so that
friends
make you live longer and having no friends is as
detrimental to your health as smoking!
Read on, my friend!  Read on!

It's interesting that now we send our friends text
messages instead of calling.  Emails instead of
sending invitations in the mail.  But life is too short,
my friends!  Time passes.  Life happens.  Forget
that email and pick up that phone and call that
hermana, prima, amiga, comadre.  Tell them
about this issue.  It's a good conversation starter,
if you need it!

Before you go pick up that phone though, you
must read this funny story about when my cell
phone was dead so I was forced to use – of all
things – a land-line phone
circa 1994!  It's a fun
look on how the phone has changed in just over
10 years.
Read it now!

What can I say?
This issue is truly
off the hook!!!

Times passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Love waxes and wanes.
Hearts break.
Careers end.
Jobs come and go.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Men don't call
when they say they will.

BUT Sisters are there,
no matter how much time and
how many miles
are between you.

When you have to walk
that lonesome valley,
and you have to walk it
for yourself,
your Sisters will be
on the valley's rim,
cheering you on,
praying for you,
pulling for you,
intervening on your behalf,
and waiting with open arms
at the valley's end.
